If you are then I’m ready to reveal the secret to healthier, more radiant skin. You’re in luck, as I have now started a 30 Days of Nighttime Skincare challenge, where we’ll walk you through a month to change up your night makeup routine. By the end of the day, it leaves your skin just the right opportunity for rest and renewal overnight. You can optimize your nighttime skincare routine so you get impressive results, using the right products and practices.
Join me on this journey and help you to make a list of what your evening skincare routine should be with essential oils, effective products, and mindful practices.
Why Nighttime Skincare Matters
And while your skin goes through its natural recovery process, the nighttime is the ideal time to support skin health. Your skin’s barrier repairs, regenerates, and detoxifies during the night. Also being the time when your skin is receptive to active ingredients in your skincare products.
If you join this nighttime skincare challenge, you’ll see how you can build a skin-repairing evening routine. There are pretty good chances that the right combination of essential oils, serums, and moisturizers can help you have a better morning with a brighter, healthier complexion.
What Will Happen Over The Next 30 Days?
In the course of this challenge, we’re going to explore several aspects of nighttime skincare. The theme of each subsequent week will be different, and each will cover the knowledge and tools you need to begin constructing the perfect evening routine. I share with you nourishing serums and soothing essential oils to well pamper your skin each night!
Week 1: Building a Strong Foundation
In this first week, your nighttime routine will be the groundwork for the week ahead.
Day 1: Assess Your Skin Type
You start your challenge by finding out your skin type. Is your skin oily, dry, combination, or sensitive? Knowing what your skin needs you can choose the best products for your routine.
Day 2: Cleanse to Remove the Day
Your nighttime routine inevitably needs a thorough cleanse. Instead, choose a mild and effective cleanser that does the job, not stripping your skin’s natural oils, and doesn’t irritate your skin. If you want, start with a cleansing balm or oil then move on to a gentle foaming cleanser.
Day 3: Exfoliate for Renewal
Exfoliate 1-2 times per week. To remove those dead cells and promote cell turnover gently use a chemical exfoliant (think: AHA’s or BHA’s product). That’ll let your skin ingest the products you put on top of that, to do its job.
Day 4: Treat with Serums
Bring targeted treatments into your evening routine. If you’re concerned about fine lines, try a vitamin C serum, brightening the complexion to even out discoloration. Hyaluronic acid is great for hydration, too. Use them afterward and they will penetrate deeper.
Day 5: Skin Recovery Essential Oils
Start using HBNO essential oils in your day. For instance, lavender oil is meant for calming and promoting relaxation, and frankincense oil aids in skin rejuvenation. Use a few drops mixed with your moisturizer or serum.
Day 6: Moisturize, Don’t Skip!
The most important thing you do in your regular evening routine is moisturizing. What we are going to be using are highly moisturizing products that keep the hydration and nutrients locked in. Overnight, ingredients like ceramides, glycerine, or shea butter can nourish your skin.
Day 7: Reflect on Your Progress
What have you progressed this week? How does your skin feel? Have you noticed any changes? Writing them will keep you on track!
Week 2: Targeting Specific Concerns
This week we’re going to focus on specific skin issues and how to fight them.
Day 8: Focus on Hydration
Make sure your skin is well hydrated at night. Cleansing is always done and then with a hydrating toner or essence, you will prep your skin for more products. Finish with a hyaluronic acid serum for the moisture to go into your skin.
Day 9: Treating Acne
If you suffer from acne, use a spot treatment containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Use it directly on blemishes after your serum and let it do its work overnight.
Day 10: Soothe Sensitive Skin
Products used for sensitive skin: gentle products with calming ingredients such as chamomile or calendula. Fragrance-free formulations include HBNO essential oils like geranium to treat soothing properties.
Day 11: Revitalize Your Eyes
Don’t forget your eye area! If you have problems like puffiness and dark circles around your eyes, you should use an eye cream that was specially made to be used at night. Check for ingredients with peptides and caffeine.
Day 12: Add a Night Mask
Treat your skin gently using an overnight mask or treatment. These will deliver you a fresh set of skin when you wake up and provide hydration and a vitamin boost while you sleep.
Day 13: Weekly Detox
Think about a detoxifying mask or treatment to suck away your impurities from your skin. Masks of clay, charcoal, etc. are okay, just make sure to finish with a hydrating moisturizer.
Day 14: Reflect on Your Journey
Think about the week that you used to target certain concerns. Have you found any good products for your skin? Then how about these insights shaping the rest of your routine?
Week 3: Relaxation Techniques Incorporation
For our third week, we’d like to move to relaxation techniques that help to get your night on the right track.
Day 15: Create a Relaxing Environment
Dim the lights and play some soft music to put you in the mood for your nightly routine. This will be your body’s cue to stop and relax.
Day 16: Mindful Cleansing
Meditate with the Scented Facial Cleanser and facecloth as you cleanse your face to find mindful cleansing practice. Breathe deep and leave the day behind you.
Day 17: Breathing Exercises
Do breathing exercises as part of your nighttime routine. Try a couple of minutes doing deep breathing or meditation to relax your mind and body.
Day 18: Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy makes your skin good. To prepare for sleep, diffuse calming essential oils such as lavender or chamomile into your bedroom.
Day 19: Gentle Facial Massage
Add a facial massage into your routine. Massage your serums and oils into your skin using your fingertips or a jade roller; the circulation and relaxation that are driven during massaging will happen naturally.
Day 20: Digital Detox
Try spending an hour before bedtime on a digital detox. Switching away from screen time reduces your blue light exposure, helping your body adjust for a great night’s rest.
Day 21: Consider Your Relaxation Techniques
Think about the influence the relaxation techniques have had on your nightly ritual. When have you felt less agitated and a bit more present when it comes to your skincare ritual?
Week 4: Maintaining Your Routine
In our last week, we’ll be focusing on how to continue with your nighttime skincare routine to get better results.
Day 22: Reassess Your Products
Give yourself time to re-examine your skincare products. Are they working for you? In terms of adjusting your routine, think about season (or in some cases skin cycle) based application.
Day 23: Learn about Ingredients
Let’s spend some time and educate ourselves on what active ingredients exist in our skincare products. It will help you know what you need to watch out for as you continue on your journey.
Day 24: Incorporate SPF for Daytime
While this is about nighttime skincare, don’t forget about daytime protection. Take SPF into consideration when you’re building your morning routine.
Day 25: Share Your Routine
Post to your friends or to social media about your nightly skincare routine. Not only will you be able to draw motivation and inspiration from it for yourself, but you’ll also be able to hold yourself accountable through it to continue your practices.
Day 26: Keep Journaling
Go forward with journaling about the journey of your skincare. Show how your skin has changed for the better within the past month and what changes you’re going to make moving forward.
Day 27: Explore New Products
To wrap up this challenge, think of finding new nighttime products that align with your skin goals. Use your determined time to try and use multiple HBNO essential oils or serums that interest you.
Day 28: Celebrate Your Commitment
